Teaching Tools

Advances in technology have clearly changed the way we teach composition and conduct research. While some instructors are thrilled by the change, others find keeping up a daunting task. This portion of the site is intended for composition instructors looking for manageable ways of incorporating new ideas and technology into their course designs. Browsing through these sites, instructors can access individual writing assignments or instructional activities and handouts as well as entire online course outlines and assignments as well as links to departmental sites. Keep checking this page for new additions. As we receive and select new material, we will update the page.

Any composition instructor whose instution is a member of the OhioLINK network is encouraged to submit relevant materials (either hard or electronic copies) for possible inclusion in the site. If you have course material for composition already on the Web and would like us to link to it, e-mail us the URL.

Activities

• Maag Library Treasure Hunt (VT100 Version) by the Reference Department at Maag Library (YSU). This exercise was designed to familiarize students with features of the VT100 version of MaagNet , OhioLINK, and a couple reference databases.
• Maag Library Scavenger Hunt by Megan Isaac (YSU) Based on the traditional library scavenger hunt, this exercise familiarizes students with features of the library building and its materials.
